Climate

The climate depends on the location. Waves carry energy, mixing up nutrients, silt and decaying matter in an estuary. Seasonal cycles can cause change in estuaries by rainfall, bringing various amounts of the water, changing temperature and sunlight. Currents move sand and sediment in and out of estuaries and erode away shorelines. Summer weather can bring hot, dry spells which cause estuaries to become dry and stagnant, leaving low oxygen and hot, high temperatures.
